Not a bad spot, suitable for an overnighter.

A very large reasonably level, and grassy camping area right on the Calliope River.
Emerald Botanic Gardens

Riverside Park
Free campground on the edge of the Thompson River near Longreach
Upper Stony
Large open camgpround, set amongst eucalypt and pine forest, right near the creek.
Clairview Beach Holiday Park
Commercial Caravan Park, right on the water (much better alternative than camping on the side of the road in the rest area up the street).
Smalleys Beach
Campground right on the edge of the ocean in Cape Hillsborough National Park
Gregory Downs (Informal)
Informal Camping area on the banks of the Gregory River, near Gregory Downs
Babinda Boulders
An attractive, well grassed and shady campground right near the popular boulders swimming hole.
Rifle Creek Rest Area
Quite a pleasant spot for a quick overnighter on the way to somewhere else.
Jourama Falls
This is a spectacular campground near the scenic Jourama Falls, about 90 km north of Townsville.
