Rifle Creek Rest Area Campground

Quite a pleasant spot for a quick overnighter on the way to somewhere else.
There is plenty of space here if you happen to have to tow a caravan, and some nice shady spots for tent sites. Most of the area is hard packed dirt, and level with plenty of room for large rigs.
If you are in a tent, you will be able to find a few areas with a bit of grass, and shade.
Rifle Creek at the back of the campground attracts lots of bird life and would be a good spot to sit for a while with the binoculars. I really love these north Queensland paperbark lined creeks. It also looks reasonably promising for Red Claw.
Don't expect it to be too quiet though, as it is only just off the highway, and you are likely to be sharing with a few caravans.
There are toilets and showers and covered picnic tables as well as a dump point and plenty of trees for shade.
Maximum stay is 48 hours, which is all you would need here.

There is an honesty box provided (gold coin donation), and is maintained by Tablelands Regional Council. Donations are used to maintain and upgrade the facilities.

Location information for Rifle Creek Rest Area
This site is accessable by caravans in good weather.
The campground is just off the Mulligan Highway about 1km north from Mount Molloy (across the road from the Weatherby Road turn off).
