Commercial Caravan Park, right on the water (much better alternative than camping on the side of the road in the rest area up the street).
I don't normally include caravan parks in my list, however this one has a sentimental attachment. I first stayed here out of necessity when the main bearings went in my Valiant Charger. I was stuck here for a week while it was repaired in Mackay and it was a great place to be accidentally stuck.
Since then, it is my regular overnight spot on my way along this stretch of coast. The owners (many owners and 20 years ago) used to bring you out a flower and a glass of cordial to your campsite when you first arrived. I have heard that owners have recently changed again so hopefuly they don't make to many drastic changes. I like the slightly run down feel of this park :)
The park itself is fine (quaint), there is an amenities block, outdoor area with meals served and a range of cabins or powered and un-powered sites.
The real gem though is walking out on the flats at low tide (watch out for the sharp oysters). Last time I was here I found turtle tracks in small creek to the south and every time I have spotted falcons hunting along the coast.
