On the shores of lake Tinaroo, usually used for Scout activities but also open to the regular campers.
Welcome to Camp Barrabadeen, a beautiful bush camp set on the shores of the iconic Lake Tinaroo in Far North Queensland. While Camp Barrabadeen is often used for Scout activities, we also offer public camping with so much for the average camper. Surrounded by 3.3km of shoreline including sheltered coves and over 500 metres of sandy beach, this is the perfect spot to put your feet up and let the view of the lake and peacefulness sink in.
Camping sites are suitable for tents offering water front camping under shady native trees. Campfires are allowed in the provided fire areas/drums and a gas BBQ area is also available for hire.
Lake Tinaroo is home to big barramundi so make sure you bring a line and canoes are available for hire if you don’t have your own. Surrounded by a network of bush walking trails with some offering panoramic views, a range of vegetation types and an abundance of wildlife including bandicoots, curlews, sugar gliders, and goannas in and around the site, completes your bush camping experience.
We welcome large groups – such as schools, youth groups, churches and more as our campsite offers 56 beds in two rooms in our bunkhouse, with a modern fully equipped kitchen, toilets, showers and a disabilities toilet and shower room. There is a newly installed energy efficient solar lighting and power system. The main day use area is our shelter on the point which is great for a briefing / classroom area, team building activities, or just to chill out. We also have two smaller covered day use areas amongst our camping sites.
