Kauri Creek

Large, open and grassy campground on the banks of Lake Tinaroo.

The camping area is quite large, with open, grassy sites (not defined areas). This is a great spot to base for a kayak / canoe fishing trip as the dam is easily accessed, via a gentle grassy bank. You are also in a small tributary here so it is well sheltered from the wind (and water skiers most of the time). It is a great swimming spot for this reason too.

Bushwalking

There is a short (600m) walk through the forest to the Kauri Creek Day use area.

From Kauri Creek Day Use Area, there is a reasonably difficult (only for at least average level fitness) 5km walk that follows around Kauri Creek and passes through rainforest and crosses the creek (walk through the creek, no bridge). There are some steep sections and it can get a bit slippery after rain.
