Oct 23 2016: No longer accessible:

The camping area is blocked off by scores of BIG bollards made from the logs of HUNDREDS of trees that had to be felled for that purpose!

Tourist office at Malanda Falls admitted they are not allowed to supply information, but I found it anyway and parked on the entrance track allowing just enough space for another vehicle to pass - rough, uneven and noisy (next to main road) but I had no option as it was late.

There is no sign from the road but there is still a big sign inside pointing to "Overnight Parking & Camping"..... that no longer exists!

Shame on you Queensland!!

A great little campgound on the banks of the johnston River, suitable for vans and camper trailers.

This site was the location of a recent Greening Australia project where it was replanted with native trees and shrubs over a couple of years.

There are platypus in the creek here. THe best chance to see them is at dawn and dusk. You will need to sit very quietly near the waters edge as they can be very shy.

Unfortunately they do not allow tent based camping here, you must be in a self contained camping vehicle (caravan, camper etc).
