The Bridle Track (4WD recommended) is a historic road from Bathurst to Hill End.
There are many historic relics along the track and the Turon and Macquarie River follow the road.
The track is no longer accessible from Bathurst but you can still drive from Hill End down the hill to the bottom.
There are many campsites along the track but they don't appear to be managed by any government authority like they were in the past. Please take your rubbish out with you.
The Turon river and Macquarie River are great spots for fishing and swimming. Unfortunately carp inhabit the river and it can be difficult to catch other species. Experienced anglers will be able to catch a variety of species that inhabit the Macquarie River system.
Wildlife is excellent, from Platypus to Wedge Tailed Eagles. The scenery is top class. Private properties line the road and rivers. Take care of private stock. There are also some feral animals in the area including pigs and goats. No shooting is allowed.
