A pleasant, small, riverside camp well shaded by white trunked Gippsland Red Gums with wattle and tea tree understory.

Adjacent to a small beach and the broad, shallow Avon River, facing cliffs. Surrounded by State Forest low hills covered with dry sclerophyll forest (spring wildflowers).

Just above the formal camp is a broad, partially grassed gentle slope shaded by blue leafed Red Box and Messmate, suitable for bush camping.

This campsite is accessable with regular 2wd vehicles.

Getting there

From Maffra [C150]: North 10.6k on the Maffra-Briagolong Rd [C493], at the cross roads 0.5k north of Boisdale continue north 8k through Valencia Creek, sharp left (south) 7k on the Wombat Rd across the Avon Rv (gravel, keep right at Knackery Rd junction, road deteriorates past the Mt Angus Tk junction, with a couple of steep, narrow sections; pass Wombat A at 6.2k, Wombat Crossing on the left at 6.6k), continue on south-west to river.
