Large open camp areas on the shore of split rock dam with a choice of powered and unpowered sites.

This camping area is very popular with fishers as you can camp right on the edge of the lake.

Dirt tracks lead around the shore to many different sites so you can usually find a spot that is not on top of your neighbours.

The area gets very busy during peak times and is also popular with water skiers, but in the off season can make for a relaxing couple of days camping and fishing.

There is a well maintained boat ramp (concrete) and fish cleaning table as well as picnic tables with shelter.

The toilets are at the entrance to the camping area which are a long walk from most of the foreshore campsites.

This campground can be less attractive when the dam level is low. You can check current levels at

Wood barbeques are available. Bring firewood and check firebans.

You are able to swim in the lake nearby.

This campsite is in Split Rock Dam

Between Barraba and Manilla, this reservoir has a catchment area of 1650km, water storage of nearly 400,000 mega litres and when full covers approximately 2000 hectares.

This site is accessable by caravans in good weather.

Getting there

Approximately 14km north of Manilla, take a right on Oakhampton Road. Follow the road for another 10 km following the signs. An honesty box is at the gate ($2 a day / vehicle for day access)
