Free grassed camp area in Woolbrook (between Bendemeer and Walcha, on the banks of the Macdonald River.
The MacDonald River here is really just a creek, but there is a little track leading down from the campground to it and is fine for a splash around in to cool off on a hot day.
The campground is pretty much right in the village of Woolbrook, but it is reasonably private and has toilets and picnic tables. There is plenty of room for vans and campers, and the ground is pretty level.
Just don't expect a "nature experience". I would rate it as a great place to overnight on your way somewhere better.
