Right on the Hunter River, on the Scone to Nundle Road.
A great cheap campground right on the river with hot showers and picnic tables.
The camping area is fairly level with plenty of grass and surrounded by native trees, so is quite attractive. A quick walk across the bridge takes you to the pub which is a great spot for dinner (and a little refreshment).
There is also some pretty good fishing in the streams around here (including the Hunter River which you will be camping on). Try just upstream where the Moonan Brook enters the Hunter or about 10km north on the Scone-Nundle Road where the Omadale joins the river.
Horses and dogs are permitted, provided they are controlled. Fires are permitted provided you fully extinguish them before you leave. There is also a basic barbecue on site.
There's a great video on a local who fishes these creeks on the ABC website here. It also has some great footage and insights into living in this area.
The Victoria Hotel now has a new Chef for quality meals, a Chinese banquet all you can eat once a month, open Wed to Sun lunch and dinner.
12 powered sites at $10 per person a night and $8 per person no power these are the local council rates and plenty of non powered sites right along the river.
Cashier on site.
To book and arrange collection of the key for the amenities phone The Victoria Hotel (Moonan Flat Pub) on 02 65463165 or email email@example.com
