About Briagolong State Forest

The Briagolong State forest is made up mostly of dry eucalypt forests with Mountain Grey Gums, White, Yellow and Red Stringy Bark and Sivertop Ash.

Over 100 bird species have been sighted in this state forest and it is quite a popular area with bird watchers.

Bush Walking

There are a variety of walks ranging from short and easy to longer and arduous throughout the area. They are all well signposted.

The Bluff

This is a very short (5minute) walk to the lookout with views down to Blue Pools.

Peregrine walking track

This 3km walk offers the chance to spot a Peregrine Falcon from the lookout and traverses dry eucalypt forest. A number of other bird species can be spotted as they are attracted to the flowering Red Box, Stringybark and Ironbark.Lookout for the mine ruins on this track.

Fern Gully

This short (1km) walk takes you through a different type of environment in the cooler, moister gully

Track 96

This is a 3day, 60km walk for the self sufficient hiker.

There are a number of camping areas along the way and a few spots to collect water or drop points. The track up is made up of various sections that can be done individually.
