Stunning location and friendly host, right on the beach near Elim
Eddie, the local aboriginal elder runs a rustic, yet beautiful campground right on the waters edge. This was my first stop out of Cairns on my last trip up to Cape York and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a basic but stunning bush campground.
It is located down a little track to the south of the coloured sands beach (to the right before you hit the beach).
The coloured sands on Elim are only a short walk away and a must see when travelling through this area. Just don't be like some idiots and try to drive right up to them. They are only a short stroll from the car park at the end of the road and there is no real need to chop up the beach.
Eddys camp has basic toilets and showers, and if it is not too busy, you can get a spot a stones throw from the waters edge.
