Remote beach camping in the middle of nowhere (permit required).

This is a beautiful beach that can only be accessed by high clearance 4wd via many kms of soft sand tracks and beach driving. It is on the far side of the mine.

The beach is about 2km long and stretches mostly to the right after you get to the end of the track. There are a few spots you can get up off the sand and have a shady, reasonably sheltered campsite.

Access

4wd only access.

Getting there

Turn off the Coocktown - McIver River Road at -15.073777, 145.136455 (looks like a farm track).

Wind your way through about 10km of sand tracks till you hit the beach (soft steep dunes onto the beach).

From Here head north about 18km till you reach the headland and turn left onto another sand track. You follow this for another 5km (approximately) till you land on the beach. It travels under the mines conveyor belt (which is fairly low).

The best camping is to the east (right after you hit the beach).
