Mugwamp Campground

A small isolated site high on the Mt Cole plateau tucked into the headwaters of the Middle Cr surrounded by dense forest and bush.

Features a stone hut and small grassed clearing but has limited level parking.

Rated 3.9

Wallabies are common, birds (kookaburras, wrens, etc) plentiful. 2k to Mt Buangor, hang-gliding.

Getting there

From Ballarat: West 44k on the Western Fwy & Hwy [M8 & A8] to Beaufort, right (north) 9k on the Beaufort-Amphitheatre Rd to Raglin, left (north-west) 1.5k on the Beaufort-Elmhurst Rd, at the Y junction continue directly on (west) 16k up the Mt Cole Rd (gravel), left (west) 1k on the Mugwamp Track to junction with Dawson Rock Rd and bridge.
