Surprisingly, this campsite has a funny dunny. It also has access to some of the best fishing in the region.

It is also a very popular, free campground in the small town of Wujunga. This is a popular spot with the grey nomads, and a recent controversy over the length of time people spend camping here, led the community to hand it back to the council to manage.

The campground is mostly level with a few scattered trees for shade. There is also a water tank (boil before drinking), however to be on the safe side, it is best to bring your own drinking water.

There is a apparently now a small fee to camp here (when I was here last it was donation only). There is also a 4 day maximum stay permitted in any two week period.

It is just a short stroll from the campground to the beach. This is a very popular and rewarding spot to fish, and that is one reason this campground is so popular. You can launch a boat from the beach here but make sure you know the tides, as the water recedes a long way on this stretch of coast.

Make sure you bring your insect repellent as the midgies can give you a hard time (like most places on the water in north QLD).

Fires are permitted (check local restrictions) however you will need to bring your own firewood.
