This is a free campground on the banks of the Fletcher Creek, suitable for caravans.
There are flushing toilets, and cold showers (better than a slap in the face with a wet fish) and the area is suitable for caravans.
The area is maintained by the local council and they have kindly provided sheltered picnic tables and wood barbecues. Take your own wood as it can be difficult to find as every one seems to do the scrounge and pick up every stick worth burning.
The best part of this campground though is being able to camp right on the waters edge.
The surface is mainly dirt but very flat and open. No problems for tent based camping, caravans or camper trailers.
There is camping along both sides of the river, however most people choose the Charters Towers side (northern side) as that is where the toilets are. If you are self contained, you can have a bit more room on the other side.

This is a free camping area.
No bookings are required here, it does get a bit busy at times with grey nomads taking advantage of a free campground on the river. The campground is large though, so you should always be able to find somewhere to pitch a tent.
