Basic bush camping 5km from Mitchell, on the banks of the Maranoa River.
Is quite a popular campsite and is well frequented by the caravaners, possibly due to the price (free) access (easy for big rigs) and great location (on the banks of the river).
The campsite is mostly level or gently sloping and there is plenty of shady spots available under the gums.
Aptly titled, Fishermens Rest is a great spot for Yellow Belly, and makes an excellent kayak fishing base campsite. You can launch a kayak easily from the gently sloping grassy bank and go searching for the deeper holes.
After all the fishing, you will need to relax your muscles at the thermal pool at the aquatic centre in town.
