Remote Cape York campground with views of the coloured cliff faces and ocean.
This is one of the iconic campgrounds on a Cape York 4wd trip and well worth the detour to visit it.
The camp sites are on the edge of the beach, and have great views, but are also exposed to the wind. In this region, during the dry season, the trade winds are strong and from the south east, meaning this site can be a bit blowy.
It is possible to launch a sea kayak here, however, once out past the shallows, it is often rough and confused if the wind is over 10 knots (most of the time). Also beware this is crocodile country!
Fishing from the beach is possible, but not great. This is a low shelving beach, meaning shallow water, even at low tide. Try to the southern end, closer to the rocks where there is some structure.
It is an open area, with grassed sites and a shelter/picnic table. There are no defined sites, but there is a maximum of 18 people.
