About Lake Wyaralong

As well as providing a water supply for SE Queensland, this dam has been developed into a recreation area.

There are many km of mountain bike and bushwalking trails as well as 3 seperate camping areas.

There are also designated horse trails and picnic areas as well as canoe / kayak launching sites.

There is a great information brochure and map available on SEQ Waters website here

No motor powered boats are permitted on the dam, so unless you propel yourself with a paddle, sail or electric motor you are going to be watching from the bank. This does make for a more peaceful setting and the dam is very popular with kayaking groups. There is a good quality boat ramp at the Meebun recreation area.

There are plenty of carp in the dam, but doesnt seem like much else. I have heard plans of stocking in the future so fingers crossed. The carp can provide some entertainment for the kids though.
