A NPWS-maintained campground that's possibly the cheapest place to stay a night near Byron Bay...
The campground is a few kilometres of narrow unsealed road past the Minyon Falls, in the Whian Whian State Conservation area. It's a fairly large camping clearing, with walk-in tent and vehicle-based camping sites. (Be careful with tents-- there are huge pine trees around the grounds that regularly drop mace-ball sized cones from very high-up.)
You must bring in your own firewood, as there\'s only living habitat vegetation in the area. Because of the large number of schoolies who expect they must have a large bonfire JUST LIKE ON TEEVEE I\'VE GOT THE GIRLFRIEND AND A GUITAR OMG WE\'RE REAL CAMPERS NOW fueled by chopping down the surrounding plantlife, the rangers are soon to make open fires illegal here. The nearby stream is slow-flowing and not suitable for drinking.
There\'s a large communal cooking area, drop toilets, gas BBQs, tables.
If staying for a while, there\'s several hiking trails around the Whian and Nightcap regions, and a lot of native wildlife makes it presence known at night, so bring a torch-- Koalas especially!
$10 per adult per night. $5 per child.
Self serve booth at campsite.
Honesty box on site, with daily visits by Rangers.
Longdrop or composting
No water available at this campsite
Fires may be allowed in built fire places. Please check local fire bans and rules.
Gas/electric barbeques available.
There are no known swimming spots at this campsite.

This campsite is accessable with regular 2wd vehicles.
On the Bangalow Rd at Bexhill turn off to Rosehill, follow the narrow Repentance Creek Rd to the Minyon Falls Rd. After passing the Minyon Falls, a bit further along is a sign indicating the campground to the right.
