Camp right on the shore of the lake - good shaded campsites along the lake edge. Suitable for caravans, camper trailers.
No facilities. Bring your own firewood. Covered picnic table. 5 km NE of Quilpie, E off the Old Adavale Rd NE out of Quilpie. Lake Houdraman turn off is on the left. Bush track to lake.
Lake Houdraman Camping Area is free, and a particularly nice spot worth the extra few km (10 mins) out of Quilpie to get there. Note that it is on private property, as marked on entry to property : but open to the public. Owner allows Campers on the proviso the area is kept clean of rubbish. Please respect this access.
All pretty flat, all with views of the lake and most with part or full shade. Good phone reception. Town has 2 supermarkets, petrol station, bakery, butcher, newsagent.
Privately owned but the farmer allows campers, which is generous of him. It is very clean of rubbish and as long as it stays this way he will leave it open to the public.
Quilpie water is smelly bore water and hot. Toilets, showers and a dump point at the sports oval. There is plenty of potable tank water available at the Tourist Information Centre. They have a hose and are happy for you to use it. Just ask.
