White sand, turquoise water, excellent fishing and safe swimming areas makes this a great family camping area close to Perth.

It does get quite busy during the peak times (Easter Long Weekend especially) but in the off season and not a weekend it is usually almost empty. The sites are well spread out, and you have direct access to the water.

The walk south along the beach leads to a board walk through the sand dunes, and searching around the rocks (limestone?) reveals some really interesting little caves and strange formations. Great spot for photography...

As far as fishing goes, you catch all the usual species here as along this part of the WA coast (Mulloway, tailor, whiting etc). Try to find gutters close to shore, and watch out for the sanctuary zones, these are strictly no fishing.

There is a useful Brochure on the Marine Park which gives information on fishing and restricted zones here http://www.dec.wa.gov.au/publications/2/doc_download/4227-jurien-bay-marine-park.html

There is a designated area for tents (tent city), and plenty of room for campers. A brochure of the Recreation Area is available here http://www.dandaragan.wa.gov.au/health_building_townplanning_ranger/rangerservices/sandycapecodeofconduct2013/file/at_download

The ground underneath some of the camp sites is comprised of hard rock and can be very difficult to hammer pegs in to. Low quality tent pegs will quickly bend or not penetrate the surface at all. It's a good idea to bring Polypropylene or Iron pegs that can be driven through the hard rock surface without bending.

Camp fires are only permitted between 1 June and 1 August, you will need to have your own self contained fire and own firewood
