Thanks to "Travelling Fool" for the following direction info.

If coming from Taree, the route that will cause less damage to your vehicle/s is to take the Forest Rd turnoff just after the Coopernook town turnoff. Head north for about 1km along the Old Pacific Hwy, cross back over the Pacific Hwy on Forest Rd itself, head straight into the forest where the road turns gravel, and the follow the signs to the campground. If coming from the north, take the Forest Rd exit and cross over the Pacific Hwy.
