A well maintained council-operated facility that`s a must-stay camp for those traveling to the Birdsville Races.
With its bug-proof shelter, hot showers, flushing toilets, coin-operated laundry, phone charging power-points, treated (and untreated) water, rubbish bins, and a grassed area for tents, the Barcoo Council has invested quite a lot of effort into convincing the large numbers of westward-heading tourists to make a stop and in one week provide enough fortune to sustain the town for the rest of the year!
During my visit in the 'Off' season, the friendly Barcoo ranger only asked me for a gold-coin donation for using the showers.
