Looking at this trip for early 2014, and will hopefully be able to update some of the campsite descriptions and photos. This free campground gives access to the Cockburn River near Kootingal (about 30km northeast from Tamworth) and is an OK place for an overnight on your way through to somewhere more attractive.
Set in the World Heritage Listed, Oxley Rivers National Park, this is a peaceful campground suitable for caravans, trailers or tents.
Set amongst tall woodland and large granite boulders, this well spaced campground makes a great base for the walk to Woolpack Rocks, or for the fit, all the way through to Cathedral Rocks.
Lovely campground right next to the spectacular Dangars Falls Lookout.
A short walk to this campground on the Nymboida River in Nymboi-Binderay National Park (on the Dorrigo plateau).
