Stockton Lake Recreation Area Camping Area - Great free camping area on the unaturally blue (but pretty all the same) Stockton Lake more...
An old open cut coal mine that is now filled with water and has become a water lovers oasis.
This is a very popular boating, swimming and camping area about 5km east from Collie, Western Australia.
Although this is an artificial lake, it is surrounded by natural bush and is a very attractive body of water.
The lake is a very blue colour which can probably be attributed to the high acidity which disolves metals into the water. It is probably a good indicator that you won't catch any fish in here as these dissolved metals can damage their gills. They recommend to avoid long term exposure to the water, although that doesn't seem to dissuade the locals from using the lake.
