About Somerset Dam

This dam, only one hours drive from Brisbane, QLD is a popular spot for watersports, fishing and camping.

Powered boats are allowed on the dam with a permit and jet skis and water skiing are both popular activities

There are designated swimming areas (power boat free) and a number of walking tracks around the dam.

There is also a commercial 4wd park (Landcruiser Mountain park) on a cattle property nearby with over 200km of tracks to explore. Not a bad spot to try out those levers between the seats before heading into the bush. It is a popular spot with 4wd clubs and has a number of challenging tracks to play on.

The dam holds up to 900,000 mega litres of water which is release through a hydro power staion and makes its way into Wivenhoe Dam and eventually, the Brisbane River.
