Large open campground off the Bruce Highway near Rollingstone, QLD, with direct access to a great swimming hole.
This site if very popular with the caravan set, however there is usually plenty of room to squeeze in, and in quiet times can be almost empty.
There are well maintained undercover picnic tables and push button barbecues as well as swings for the kids. The camping area is mostly level and grassed and there is plenty of shady spots (or sunny ones if you have solar panels). There is also plenty of room to swing a big van in if you are unlucky enough to have to tow one.
Access to the beautiful, shallow creek is via a set of wooden stairs. It is an excellent spot for a swim, however can get a little slimy if there hasn't been any rain for a while. There is a little set of rapids, and wide shallow stretches between knee and waist deep, perfect for younger kids to have a splash.
There is also a swimming hole, just to the south under the highway bridge which is a little deeper and probably better if there hasn't been any rain for a while.
