Camping right on the edge of the dam, with large grassy and level camping areas.
There are basic boat launching facilities (really for a small tinny if you have a 4wd). Barrumundi and Red Claw are the obvious target species.
This is a very large campground with plenty of shady spots as well as plenty of open ground if you are relying on solar panels.
There are basic toilet facilities, composting toilets, fireplaces/barbecues and sheltered picnic tables.
Being a free campground, right on the edge of the dam, it can get quite busy during the warmer months and is very popular with fishers and groups. In the off peak season it is usually pretty quiet.

Pets are permitted, provided they are kept on a lead and not a nuisance to other campers.

About half an hours drive from Glasdtone, Queensland, Lake Awoonga is a popular fishing and recreation dam on the Boyne River.
This campsite is accessable with regular 2wd vehicles.
Bownedale Bush Camp is accessed off the Gladstone-Monto Road about 26km south from Calliope, QLD. There is a signed turn off to the east and dirt for about 2km to get to the campground.
