Very large, open campground at Emu Crossing on the Gwydir River, 3km south of Bundarra.
This campground is becoming popular with the caravans and campervans, however it is rarely too busy to find a spot.
The river here is quite attractive, although there is a bit of a climb down the bank to get to it. If you are looking for river access to launch a canoe or for a bit of fishing you may have to hunt up or down stream a little.
There are basic toilets and garbage bins provided, but as this is a community provided site, don't expect too much.
One of the highlights of this spot is seeing a platypus. If you are around at dusk or dawn, just creep up to the edge of the river and sit quietly for a while. I have stopped here dozens of times on my way through and never failed to see one.
The new bridge has been completed with the old road torn up to the SE and the NW end has [fallen] road closed signs (Sep 2018). The old bridge is intact.

This is a free camping area.
No bookings can be made for Bundarra Lions Park, but there is little chance of not finding a spot. If you are really stuck though, there is a camping area in town (check with the pub).
