Although this campsite is in the middle of town, it is still reasonably private and on the banks of the Peel River (really just a creek here).

It would be fine for a stop over for a night on your way through. There is plenty of room for caravans and the ground is nice and level.

There is no charge for camping here, however if you would like a powered site then there is a fee.

The site is managed by a committee of Tamworth Regional Council who manage the site and put fees back into maintenance of the park.

I have stopped here for lunch a couple of times and there is always one or two people camped here, but it is never packed. The grass is always well maintained and the toilets are clean.

There is a track that leads down to the creek (about 100m) and the water is quite clean although a bit shallow for a swim.

This campground is very close to Bowling Alley Point on Chaffey Dam, which would be a nicer place to stay, however if it is windy, the Woolomin Campground provides more shelter.
