Great little free campground on the banks of a creek near Nundle

There are two camping areas here, on both sides of the creek. The one on the Nundle side has a large covered picnic table.

Most of the creek is now fenced and the council have put 24hr rest stop only signs.

The one on the other side of the bridge has the toilets and a couple of fire places. Either side would be fine for small vans or tents.

I found the old wooden bridge interesting, the banks have been rocked up using local stone, definitely not the way they do it these days

Getting there

Take River Road for approximately 4km from Nundle. There are two accesses, one on each side of the creek.

River Road is a short cut from Nundle to Tamworth, however it is narrow and unsealed. The road can be cut after heavy rain as it winds its way along the Peel River.
