A pretty, free campsite on the Manning River with some shallow (and cold) swimming holes, suitable for caravans.
The community has provided a long drop toilet, fire pits and rubbish bins to make your stay a little more comfortable. The campsite is just off the road (Thunderbolts Way) so can get a bit of traffic noise during the day, however it is pretty quiet at night time. Last time I was here, I heard more bell birds than cars so it shouldn't annoy you too much.
The camp surface is mainly gravel/ river pebbles, with plenty of shade provided by the large casurina trees along the river, and large eucalypts towards the road side.
The area is quite large and there are a few options for vans right on the edge of the river. For tent based camping, you will have to pick your spot more carefully unless you like a rocky base.
The river (not much bigger than a creek here really) tumbles over shallow rapids, and there a couple of deeper pools. If there has been some recent rain, it can flow too fast to swim in,but in normal conditions you can find a good hole for a dip.
