Right on the Hunter River, on the Scone to Nundle Road.

A great cheap campground right on the river with hot showers, flushing toilets and picnic tables.

There are 12 powered sites.

The camping area is fairly level with plenty of grass and surrounded by native trees, so is quite attractive. A quick walk across the bridge takes you to the Victoria Hotel (under new management) which is a great spot for dinner (and a little refreshment).

There is also some pretty good fishing in the streams around here (including the Hunter River which you will be camping on). Try just upstream where the Moonan Brook enters the Hunter or about 10km north on the Scone-Nundle Road where the Omadale joins the river.

Horses and dogs are permitted, provided they are controlled. Fires are permitted provided you fully extinguish them before you leave. There is also a basic barbecue on site.

A good kids playground is located at the end of the park.

There's a great video on a local who fishes these creeks on the ABC website here. It also has some great footage and insights into living in this area.

The Victoria hotel has new management, Neil and Monica welcomes you there, great meals Wednesday to Saturday, lunch and dinner, Hotel is closed Mondays.

Just next to the hotel is the Picked Goose Cafe, open 7 days a week 6am till 5 pm. Great coffee, light meals and good old country charm and hospitably, also arts and crafts to buy. Dimity welcomes you there

14 powered sites , 50 plus unpowedred
