Free campsite on the Telegherry River with plenty of shaded campsites.
Pleasant camping can be had close to the river. The river makes for a very refreshing (read cold) dip. Bring warm clothes due to the high altitude in can get chilly, especially when the sun gets low below the tree-line.
There is a short (took me under an hour) walking trail to problem creek falls with some little waterfalls along the way. It wasn't very well maintained last time I was there and some narrow/steep sections so care should be taken with kids.
Plenty of birdlife, goannas and the odd kangaroo. Yabbies can be caught in the creek, but not sure if there is anything else in there other than eels. The kids had fun in the evening, sprinkling a few bread crumbs at the edge of the rocks to see the eels.
It is a very popular spot on weekends, so I am guessing would be packed in the warmer months on school holidays.
