On the edge of Three Mile Dam in the high country of Kosciuszko National Park
In the summer, this is a spectacular alpine lake surrounded by snow gums, in the winter it is a white wonderland and the lake can freeze mostly over.
There are no marked sites, and the open grassy area allows setting gives good access for camper trailers or caravans.
You can fish here for trout, however ensure you have a NSW fishing licence.
The dam was actually built in 1883 for sluicing for gold mining operations.
Note: there are stories of hidden mine shaft holes still existing in the area, so beware if walking off marked trails.

The campground is free, however park entry fees apply to Kosciuszko National Park. See link for prices at each time of year

This site is accessable by caravans in good weather.
Three Mile Dam campground is located in the Kiandra Selwyn area of Koscciuszko National Park.
To get there from Tumut or Adaminaby via Kiandra:
Drive 75.5km south of Tumut, or 37.7km east of Adaminaby, along Snowy Mountains Highway
Take the Kiandra-Cabramurra Road turn-off (signposted Link Road).
Three Mile Dam campground is 5.8km on your right
To get there from Khancoban via Cabramurra (closed winter):
Take Alpine Way west from Khancoban for 5.8km to the Swampy Plains Creek Road turnoff
Follow the signs for 60km to the Cabramurra turn-off
From here, follow Goat Ridge Road, then turn right at Link Road towards Kiandra
Three Mile Dam is around 9.6km on your left
