Large, well established, campground on the edge of Bjelke-Petersen Dam (Lake Barambah).

This is not the place you would go if you want solitude, but is great for families. There is an in-ground pool, play equipment and kiosk/takeaway shop. Fires are permitted if contained and firewood is available for purchase from the kiosk.

There is a large, camp kitchen/shelter with kettles, barbecues, washing up facilities etc. There are also hot showers and a couple of different ablution blocks around the campground (saves a bit of a walk).

Cabin style accommodation is also available if you are feeling lazy or the tent gets left at home accidentally.

We stayed here once over new years eve and they put on an outdoor movie for the kids (Smurfs I think).

The campground is huge and mostly level or slightly sloping with some shade. They almost all have views and are only a short stroll from the edge of the dam.

The good quality boat ramp makes easy boat launching. This is of course what attracts a lot of the campers, as the fishing is not too bad. Skiing is popular here too.

The caretakers were extremely friendly and helpful.

Although I usually prefer to be more off the beaten track, this was a great spot for a family camping trip as the pool and play equipment was a big hit with the little people (not to mention the open air movie).
