Candlebark Campground

Located near the shore of Coller Bay of Lake Eildon within a large National Park, the sites offer views of grassed creek flats.

Probably the best of the National Park's camps for motor homes - sites are large & level but all are in close proximity.

Thin shade from Messmate. 4 wood & 1 gas communal BBQ.

Kangaroos abound and koalas, wombats and echidnas are common. There is a large number and a wide variety of bird species, including kookaburras, rosellas, king parrots, cockatoos, eagles and water birds.

Previously subject to gold mining and clearing for farming, the surrounding regrowth forest is relatively dry Stringybark, Peppermint, Red Box, Candlebark and wattle. Wildflowers are prolific in season.

No generators or chainsaws.

Rated 3.5/5

Boat ramp, public phone & info near the rangers office 3km south.

Swimming, fishing, canoeing, sailing, water skiing, bush walking (nature trail 2k 1hr; many others)
