Key required from National Parks, but worth the effort.
This is a large grassy campground beside a creek at the bottom of a valley, beside a historic slab hut (Youdales Hut).
Great spot if you want to be alone, as most people don't go to the trouble of organising the key and 4wding in to this spot.
Youdales Hut is a slab log cabin built by the original grazier on this property. You can walk through the hut and get a good sense of how simple (and difficult at times) life would have been for the these pioneers.
The road in is fairly steep and gravel although it is suitable for most high clearance four wheel drives. I was lucky enough to go down here with a client who was running tours in OKAs (sadly not operating them anymore). We had a Landrover Discovery with us as well, which was considerably more comfortable :)
It would be a great spot for a family weekend away, plenty of open space, a creek and seclusion.
