A very large, open campsite in a beautiful natural setting.
This is a great camping spot for families that want kids to experience nature, but also to have some space to run around and be kids.
There are picnic tables (some sheltered), free barbecues and good quality amenities (composting toilets).
The camping area is large and grassy, with no defined sites. Some areas have good shade and others are out in the open more (handy if you need solar to charge the batteries).
Fire places are also dotted around the campground (bring your own wood and check local restrictions). They have fold down barbecue plates so are good for cooking up some snags if the main barbecue area is busy.
Byrill Creek Walking track is a short (about 500m) kid friendly walk that passes through sub-tropical rainforest, and some giant fig trees as well as open native woodland.
It ends at Byrill Creek with a good little swimming hole.

Cutters Camp campground is on the corner of Mebbin Forest and Caddell Rd in Mebbin National Park. Beware the road can be a bit slippery in wet weather, so is most suited to 4wd if there has been rain.
To get there (taken from the National Parks Website)
From Murwillumbah:
Take Kyogle Road from Murwillumbah, then turn right on to Tyalgum Road.
At Tyalgum, turn left on to Brays Creek Road, which continues on to Byrrill Creek Road. This road becomes unsealed for several kilometres.
Turn right on to Mebbin Forest Road (be careful - this intersection is on a hairpin bend). This then leads into the park and Cutters Camp campground.
From Murwillumbah / Kyogle Road (not suitable for towing):
Turn onto Cadell Road and travel on bitumen for 700m before traversing 2.4km of gravel to Mebbin National Park boundary
Continue from park boundary for another 9km to the intersection of Cadell Road and Mebbin Forest Drive, which is the location of Cutters Camp campground.
Please be advised that Byrrill Creek Road is narrow and unsealed in parts. Visitors are asked to take the utmost care when driving along this road to ensure the safety of themselves, as well as local residents.
