A narrow valley surrounded by steep, dry forested slopes.
Vegetation reflects the rain-shadow zone. Spring wildflowers. Can be very hot, dry and dusty in summer. Flys, ants, foxes and crows common.
Willows along waterways killed. Blackberries expanding.
Traditional camps at -37.082023,148.413178 now canoe landing & day only, accessed 180m north of bridge.
Three camp zones, each with thin shade. Fees no longer charged:
McKillops; 750m south west of bridge at -37.090351,148.411795. 4 well spaced, large sites all slope. New facilities, pit toilet, BBQ, overlooks Snowy Rv. Separate tent area. Allright if you like camping on a dry hill.
White Box; 300m east of bridge at -37.081125,148.416097, 13 small, short, close, sloping sites on a circuit track. pit toilet, BBQ
Bull Flat; 1.3k east of bridge at -37.082546,148.424347, 5 spaced, large, level sites on a broad ridge secluded from road with easy access to bubbling Deddick River. BBQ. Best for motorhomes, caravans

The long high bridge is the third on this site. The second was washed away one day before it was due to be officially opened - beware of floods, sudden river height changes.

Situated by the junction of the Snowy and Deddick Rivers, well north of Orbost.
Access from Buchan: North 56k up the Gelantipy Road [C608] (5k gravel), right (east) 28k down McKillops (Bonang-Gelantipy) Road [C611] (gravel, narrow, winding: no caravans; scenic) (stop at signposted walks to Little River Falls and Little River Gorge).
Alternatively north 90k from Orbost up the Bonang Rd [C612] (30k gravel) almost to Bonang, left (west) 53k down McKillops (Bonang-Gelantipy) Road [C611] (mostly gravel).
