Mount Buffalo is a granite plateau at about 1,400m, an alpine island separated from the main ranges by low valleys. Roads and a multitude of trails makes this a 'civilized' way to view alpine scenery, flora, fauna and vegetation.
Rosellas, cockatoos, parrots, yellow robins, honeyeaters and kookaburras are common, as are wombats. Swamp wallaby and lyrebirds can be sighted in the camp.
