A small, quiet semi-arid box-ironbark camp, well away from roads and day areas.

Three dispersed sites designated by clearings in the scrub, each with a fireplace, one large enough for a couple of rigs. One table, pit toilet and small water tank.

Rated 4/5

Set on low rolling gravelly hills forested with Red Iron-bark and Grey Box with a good understory of scattered wattles, shrubs and grass - a profusion of wild flowers in spring.

Kangaroos, wallabies, rabbits, echidnas, wedge-tailed eagles, falcons and honeyeaters are common, with water birds around the old Goldfields Reservoir to the east nearer the Ballarat Rd.

The narrow winding Karri Track may be a little difficult for caravans and long rigs.

There is a walking trail 2.5k to the picnic ground where an information board describes other walks.

Gold mining relics, Aboriginal sites.
