Surprisingly, this campsite has a funny dunny. It also has access to some of the best fishing in the region.
It is also a very popular, free campground in the small town of Wujunga. This is a popular spot with the grey nomads, and a recent controversy over the length of time people spend camping here, led the community to hand it back to the council to manage.
The campground is mostly level with a few scattered trees for shade. There is also a water tank (boil before drinking), however to be on the safe side, it is best to bring your own drinking water.
There is a apparently now a small fee to camp here (when I was here last it was donation only). There is also a 4 day maximum stay permitted in any two week period.
It is just a short stroll from the campground to the beach. This is a very popular and rewarding spot to fish, and that is one reason this campground is so popular. You can launch a boat from the beach here but make sure you know the tides, as the water recedes a long way on this stretch of coast.
Make sure you bring your insect repellent as the midgies can give you a hard time (like most places on the water in north QLD).
Fires are permitted (check local restrictions) however you will need to bring your own firewood.

The council mentions a small fee for camping here, hoever last time I was here there was a donation box. I am told that it is now $5 per night?

The campground is accessed by turning east off the Bruce Highway, about 18km south of Home Hill. There is about 12km of narrow dirt road, however it should be fine for caravans in good weather (provided you take care). You pass through the small fishing town of Wunjunga.
